Just some shirts

Just some shirts

I have been busy lately with school and work as I’m in finals and this time is usually when I have a lot of orders of shirts to paint… I was lucky that last weekend was thanksgiving break so I spent it mostly working and doing homework.  Otherwise, I would be so overloaded right now as I always take my time when doing customers orders and I usually let them pile up with some taking me more than a week to ship ( the good thing is that people never complain about that after they get the shirt, :) ).  I have this bad habit  of doing things at the last minute and even if I have free time, I would always do other unimportant stuff instead… Now for example, I still have lots of orders to make and even homework but I’m here wasting my time making this silly post… :)

So here are some photos of shirts that I did for other people in the last few days.  it’s the first time that I have made those or some I rarely do… so I felt like taking some pics of them. Most of the shirts I do are the ones that I do over and over and over again that I think I’m getting weary of that, but I’m too lazy to make some new stuff…  in fact, I have more than 5 months without creating new designs… I need to invest more time on this stuff,  if I want to see my business grow.

Oh, well, I just hope that orders keep me busy the next few weeks coz I’m kinda thinking to take a winter vacation at the end of the month.  going on  a road trip to Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and SF sound totally awesome, but I also want to be in NYC (brrr!) for new year’s day  or my cheaper and longer staying option of going to Mexico for a few weeks…  mmm or maybe I should hibernate on my winter break and  save the money to secure or stay  in South Korea for more than a month on this summer that is just getting near… sound like it’ll be hard hard to decide…

Ayumi Hamasaki ( i can't believe i haven't made one for me )

Something Different

Something Different

I’m trying something different than just what I usually do with my artwork, so I’m experimenting with some stuff.  I feel like all my artwork is very boring by doing the same realistic portraits or plain stencils…
There are many artist that I like and have such a unique style like C215 and el Mac

el Mac

Makes me think that I need to start experimenting other stuff and developing my own style,  so I can make my work more recognizable as my own and more unique,. I know this takes time so I’m just starting with some small changes… well, I didn’t do too much here besides changing the colors. But it is something knew for me… I was thinking on doing something messy on top of her kinda like stealing some ideas from Hush

hush

but I didn’t dare to mess with her face, lol. Damn!  I need to change that thought….  I’ll definitively try to mess with it next time…

The girl  is the Taiwanese model and actress, Lin Chi-ling

Another thing that I need to do is also start using my own photos as reference.  I think that will definitively help me create something more of my own, besides I’ve tons of pics of my fav subject so i don’t have excuses… :)

I made this shirt last week. I think I should have chosen a pic showing her face and tattoos, maybe like the one below but anyway she looks pretty cool too with the sunglasses…
Well, she is a tattoo artist that I like her work too, but I don’t think I’m huge fan of her as I have barely watched just a few LA ink episodes… besides I just missed a big chance to meet her. I just found out  that she was signing books at borders early this week. I wish I had know that earlier, I would have loved to met her and buy her book and ask her to sign my shirt too, lol.  But oh well…

Here are some photos of the steps in making the shirt. As always I just start from light to dark colors. And then apply the last highlights…. It didn’t take me too long,  maybe around 1hr ½. That’s why I love black and white.
